Redcar & Cleveland Mind Information Service
What we offer
Redcar & Cleveland Mind Information Service provides mental
health information to anyone who contacts us including mental health
service users and their friends, relatives & carers and to service
providers, workers and students. Our policy is to help people make
an informed choice. If we don’t have the information you are
looking for we will do our best to find out how you can get it.
The service is confidential and no personal information is kept
without permission. We do not offer advice, counselling or ongoing
advocacy but we can signpost people to these services if required.
The information Service is run by an Information Worker and members
of the information Group at Redcar & Cleveland Mind
Opening Hours
Our information Service is open Monday-Thursday 9am-4pm for telephone/fax/e-mail
enquiries and 10am-4pm for personal callers.
The type of information available
We have a wide range of information covering different types of
mental distress, treatments, advocacy and sources of help. Information
can be accessed at our library at Dove House or from the Good Mind
Guide. Our Information Service also offers talks and information
stalls on the subject of mental health. The full range of Mind leaflets
can also be accessed at any of our Day Service venues.
The Good Mind Guide
Our online Good Mind Guide lists local organisations/groups
who aim to contribute to people’s well-being and includes
wider community information and contacts. The information is regularly
updated. The Good Mind Guide is available at www.goodmindguide.org
Free borrowing from our Library
Anyone can borrow books from our library. You can keep a book for
up to 4 weeks but after that time you are expected to return books
so they are available for others. We also loan video and audio material.
Information for everyone
We have an equal opportunities policy and we try to meet the needs
of all communities. Some of the information is available in languages
other than English. It may also be available in video or audio formats.
Our information Resource is on the first floor at Dove House which
is fully wheelchair accessible (stair-lifts to 1st Floor). We also
have access to portable induction loops and we can be contacted
by Typetalk users. You can get further info’ on www.goodmindguide.org.
We can call you back if you contact us by phone..
Charges
All leaflets and information sheets are free to service users and
carers. We may charge others, but any chargers will be clearly explained.
